Meeting notes from July 30, 2016

We had a good turn out for our meeting yesterday. Thanks to Barry, Barb, Susan, Laurie, & Jen for representing our community members. Please remember that all FOLF meetings are open to the public and we strongly encourage all residents of Paulsen's Pasture, Sunnyside, Westlake and surrounding areas to come and have a voice to what happens on the waterfront and beach area. 
The meeting minutes from June 4, 2016 have some changes then they will be adopted and posted with a link on this site. 
We have an open executive position for the vice-chair and are looking for a representative from Sunnyside-Poulsen Pasture Community Association.  If you are interested, please use the contact form on the contact us page or attend the next meeting. (Sept. 10, 2016)
Business from the meeting:

•  solar lights have been installed in both the south and north washrooms
• toys for the kids were purchased and given out at the Summer Village of Parkland Beach annual pancake breakfast
• discussion was had over the increased use of the beach and it was mentioned that most people use the areas with the new sand that we brought in
• we are thinking about the use of the very south side of the beach as a canoe/paddle board/kayak launch area. It was mentioned that we need to maintain the grassy area to walk on and possibly build a pathway. We also talked about building a pier to install as that area can be quite muddy and difficult to walk through. Please comment to this on the contact page. 
• we discussed the idea of cooking BBQ's installed on the beach beside some of the picnic table areas
• we are looking to increase the number of recycle containers on the beach, just pricing out the best options
• to assist with beach maintenance, we have planned for two morning willow and tree trimming clean-up sessions. August 27 and September 10 we will meet at the village office at 8 am to begin a trimming and pruning of some of the waterfront vegetation.
